Make It Happen!
The key to our success rests in our volunteers, who embody the spirit of greatness by saying,
"Yes I can, and so can you!"
Thank you so much for your hard work.
We never could have asked for more dedicated volunteers,
and we cannot
express how grateful we are to have you here!!!
2013 VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH
Ed SimekEd has been volunteering as a
Home Delivery Driver for 23 years! He has the record for the longest time a volunteer has been doing this task. Not only that,
he is also the oldest at 89 years young, and he drives more days than any other BCSAP home delivery driver, working Monday
through Thursday, and filling in when he is needed on Fridays. Ed says that volunteering is very beneficial to him and gives
him great satisfaction. Over the years he has saved a woman’s life and has had his car stolen. When he reported the
car stolen he noted to the police officer that whomever stole it won’t get very far, as the car has a bad transmission
and is low on gas. Ed enjoys coming into the Senior Center to visit. He says the people are friendly and he has good conversations
with others. He does take in a noon meal whenever he can.
We appreciate Ed (and his wonderful sense of humor) for everything he does!

Norma has volunteered for eight years in June. She volunteers at the coffee bar, as a tray carrier and
spends most of her time in the Arts & Crafts department making cards and other items for the gift shop. Her favorite thing
is meeting new people, visiting and kidding around with everyone. She calls the Senior Center her “Sanity House”
because she can come here and forget what needs to be done at home. Volunteering keeps her busy and keeps her focused on feeling
good, so she doesn’t just sit at home because of the aches and pains. Thank you, Norma for your dedication & work!

Harriet Steinley has volunteered for the Bismarck Senior Center cince 2007. She has volunteered

out. We really do appreciate you!
