The Burleigh County Senior Adults Program promotes better health and well-being by providing nutritionally sound meals, information and referral outreach services, and health manitenance services.  Call the Senior Center at 701-255-4648 to learn more about eligibility and how to begin services.

 

NUTRITION SERVICES

Congregate meals are served at noon, five days a week, Monday through Friday in Bismarck at the Senior Center and at Crescent Manor, and in the outlying community of Wing at the Golden Wing Club. Meals are provided on a reservation basis. Reservations need to be made a day in advance. Menus are published monthly in The Senior Sentinel newsletter and weekly in the Bismarck Tribune newspaper. Home -Delivered meals are provided to those who are unable to come to the congregate meal sites.  Eligibility for Home-Delivered meals is determined by the Burleigh County Senior Adults Program outreach staff. A person is considered homebound when one or more of the following exist:

  • Limited physical mobility 
  • Emotional psychological impairments that prohibit participation at a congregate meal site
  • Remote geographic location that prohibits transporting the client to and from a congregate meal site

OUTREACH SERVICES


Outreach Services emphasize referral and linkage to hundreds of services that help older adults and their families. Two licensed social workers are on staff. Through home visits and phone calls, the outreach staff identify needs and connect to appropriate resources.  Appointments with outreach staff may be scheduled by calling 701-255-4648.



HEALTH MAINTENANCE SERVICES

Health Maintenance is a combination of services that address the unique cares and concerns of aging adults. Two licensed nurses are on staff at the Senior Center to provide foot care, medication set-up, blood pressure checks and fasting blood sugar checks. Services are offered at the Senior Center and in the home. The nurses' schedule is published in The Senior Sentinel newsletter.  Appointments for health services may be scheduled by calling 701-255-4648.
